Hygiene, Ek Train Katha

The project aims to enhance the passenger experience in a typical train journey in India. The proposed intervention will help the users to be conscious of their hygiene and sanitation practices while traveling in trains.

In collaboration with Niveda Sah and Kanishk Nema

Timeline: 01 Week

  1. When was the last time you had a good experience on a train journey?

  2. How often do you travel by train?

  3. What are your frustrations regarding train journeys?

  4. Have you ever had a bad experience during a train journey?

  5. How do you think it can be made better?

Customer Journey Map

All play and some experiments.

We have tried experimenting with the traditional method of using a Customer Journey Map. At each point of the journey, the researcher can mark the touchpoints, thoughts, and opportunity areas.

Moreover, the map allows the researchers to identify various emotions at each stage. They can place the emotion (sticks) that best describe the frame. Mapping the users' emotions will help the researchers capture richer and deeper insights.

Emotions at each point of the journey are often left undiscovered in a typical journey map. Mapping the users' emotions will help the researchers capture richer and deeper insights.

Branding and Wireframes

Our design aims to give the user a good experience and promote public awareness of hygiene and sanitation practices. We use a reward points system as positive reinforcement.

How does it work?

Console: The console in the center of the cabin, making it accessible to all passengers. It shows a video focusing on increasing public awareness of hygiene and sanitation. It also manages a reward system that incentivizes passengers to keep their spaces clean.

Camera: The camera takes a picture of the user’s seat, and the system compares it with images of clean berths to calculate the points passengers have received.

Hygiene Kit: It provides users with necessary items they might use during the train journey.

Feedback

Critical Concerns:

  • The users may feel uncomfortable as they are under constant surveillance.

  • Some people like to travel by train because of its laid-back nature, and adding certain AI elements makes it more impersonal.

  • Risk of vandalization and theft.
